There is a real connection between designing and making...working on a design project for a company and the project itself has to convey the ethos of the company, though I have a couple of locations for some company logos.
Having designed in 3D I had to make up a couple of sketch models just to make sure that my ideas can be made and or look right...
A half sized letter 'S' from the logo, a quick bandsaw cut out + sprayed acrylic. Works well to give a feel for the effect, could be back lit. Undoubtly will need to be CNC cut out for accuracy in the final make.
The other one was definately more out there though far cooler...
The timber just looks like timber until the logo is switched on...cool!
Choice of timber will be critical for this to work well, it will probably not get through to the final design for this project though definitely going to crop up in some joinery or furniture project in the future.
Designing, experimenting + making...non can exist without the others.
